Nestled in southwest Orlando, on the doorstep of Walt Disney World, Horizon West is a planned community consisting of six villages: Lakeside, Bridgewater, Town Center (Hamlin), Village F, Village H (Hickory Nut) and Village I. Each village consists of an elementary school, a shopping area that is anchored by a grocery store and several styles of housing, including apartment, townhouses, single family and custom homes. Being a planned community, each area of Horizon West is dedicated to a specific application, i.e. shopping, commercial, apartments, single family residential. The majority of the Horizon West property is located in Winter Garden, some of it is located in Windermere, Florida.

The cornerstone of Horizon West will be the Town Center/Hamlin area which is located just off Hwy 429 and Independence Avenue. Located at the Hamlin will be a movie theater, a Walmart and a Publix anchored shopping center, which are all currently under construction and scheduled to open late 2016. In addition there will be a section on the south east corner that will be lake front shopping and dining. This section has not begun construction and no definite plans have been released. To the north of the Town Center will be the Orange County Sports Plex and to the south will be a hospital.

Currently the only shopping in Horizon West are two Publix anchored shopping centers. One located at the corner of Winter Garden-Vineland Road and Reams Road and one at the corner of Winter Garden-Vineland and Ficquette Road. The nearest shopping center is the Winter Garden Village, which is located at Hwy 429 and Winter Garden-Vineland Road. The Winter Garden Village is anchored by a Super Target, a Best Buy, and a Staples, as well as other big retailers and restaurants.

From most locations throughout Horizon West, you can drive to Disney within ten minutes, making HW a mecca for Disney fans. From most locations throughout HW you can hear the Magic Kingdom train whistle as well as have an up close and personal experience with the Magic Kingdom fireworks nightly. Many of the communities have added firework viewing areas for those without a clear view from their house.
